Controversial Plympton link road plans back before city planners

Campaigners are hoping for another delay today on plans to alter a junction on a proposed new Plympton link road.

Wolf minerals say the road between Lee Moor road and West hill road is essential to accommodate the traffic created by reopening the tungsten mine at Hemerdon.

The matter was deferred last month so that more information could be gathered on the traffic impact.

Some locals say it will mean 200 lorries travelling past their homes each day and that the planning permission given in the 1980s should be re examined because hundreds of homes have been built in the area since.

But Wolf minerals say the mine will create jobs and improve industry in the area.
