Councillors to discuss possible toll increase on Tamar Bridge

A reduction in traffic flow on the tamar bridge and torpoint ferry could result in a toll increase.

A report to council leaders will also explain that the Tamar bridge and Torpoint ferry joint committee's budget reserves currently stand at 2 million pounds but are predicted to fall to 381-thousand pounds by 2015.

The committee's business plan details a rise in tolls in 2014 - and bosses haven't ruled that out but it all depends on budgeting, staffing levels and any future work that needs to be done on the bridge.

Tolls went up in March 2010 from a pound to one pound fifty.

Councillors have put the reduction in traffic flow down to the economic climate.
