Decision on incinerator will still be taken three days before Christmas

December 22nd is still the day when Plymouth city councillors will decide whether to give planning permission for an incinerator at Devonport.

A motion to change the date to move it away from the festive season was defeated last night.

City councillors have said the date isn't set in stone, but that there is no need to change it unless there are unforeseen circumstances closer to the time.

Campaigners say many people will be away at that time and won't be able to properly voice their views.

But the local authority says December 22nd is a normal working day.
