Derriford hospital addresses swab mistakes

Surgical procedures at Plymouth's Derriford hospital are likely to be inspected again next month following recent mistakes.

Four surgical swabs have been left inside patients following operations in recent months and the Care Quality commission argued that checklists were not being completed properly.

The hospital has been warned that it could face prosecution if it doesn't comply fully but bosses say they've already put a number of checks in place.

The matter will be discussed at a hospital board meeting today.
