Final day to have your say over whether nuclear submarines should be dismantled in Plymouth

The MOD must decide in the coming months whether Plymouth will be the location for the dismantling of nuclear submarines.

The consultation on the issue ends today and to date the MOD has received 375 responses.

Campaigners argue the city would be in danger of becoming a nuclear scrapyard, particularly after four of its frigates were decommissioned after the defence review.

On a recent visit to Plymouth, David Cameron said the dockyard had a bright future.

The MOD say safety is their top priority and that any dismantling would follow strict regulations - they say they will now take time to carefully consider the consultation responses.
