She visited the Falklands and South Georgia and will be welcomed with a seven gun salute from the citadel.

Montrose has sailed more than 35000 miles on her deployment as part of the patrol protecting UK interests in the South Atlantic.

In the Falkland Islands, the crew visited residents and renovated war memorials as they prepared to mark the 30th anniversary of the conflict.

They also visited Bermuda, the South Sandwich islands and St Helena and even hosted the South African government on a trip to Simon's Town.

More than 700 families are expected to be at the dockyard  to welcome their relatives home.
