Many Plymouth schools could be affected by headteachers' strike

Plymouth's headteachers union says it wants to continue talks with the government over its proposed changes to public sector pensions.

Yesterday the national association of headteachers revealed its members had voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action.

It's the first time in the union's 114 year history - but they're still hoping strikes can be avoided.

The government did make some concessions last week but unions still claim workers will be paying more, working longer and getting less back in the end.

Around 60 Plymouth schools closed either partially or completely during a day of strike action in the summer - and Plymouth's NAHT says this time round, far more could be affected.
