A prototype of the Olympic torch has arrived in Plymouth as part of its national tour.

It's on display on the Piazza today so that visitors can see it and have their photos taken with it.

City councillors say it'll put Plymouth on the map, along with other events like the America's cup and the British Art show which are coming to the city later in the year. 

Organisers are still asking for nominations for torch-bearers from the city, as Plymouth's the first stopover for the official relay next year.
