Plans submitted for new waste plant at Lee Moor

The firm behind plans for a new waste plant at Lee Moor say there is room for their proposals.

AAD south west have now submitted a planning application for an eleven million pound anaerobic digestion plant.

They hope to process seventy five thousand tonnes of food and office waste a year - the technology uses micro organisms to break down material.

AAD say this is much greener than incineration.

But there are already proposals for a waste incinerator at Lee Mill and another at Devonport Dockyard.

It's claimed 25 jobs will also be created by the new plant, with more to follow during any construction phase.
