Plymothians named on honours list

A number of Plymothians are to get gongs in the Queens birthday list.

Ian Northam gets an MBE for services to lifelong learning at the GMB union, while Julian Parnall is awarded the same honour for his dedication to the child support agency -he was a higher executive officer there.

Another Plymouth MBE goes to David Compton for services to young people in the Gambia in Africa through the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

And an OBE is awarded to Jane Guy of Yelverton who was formerly the training manager at the Citizens advice bureau in the city.
