Police urge women to stay safe after sexual assault near Union Street

Police are urging women not to walk alone at night after a sexual assault near Union street.

A young woman was attacked in Rendle street in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.

Police are looking for two potential witnesses who were in the area at the time - both were male and one was wearing a rucksack and pushing a bike.

Her attacker is described as being of asian appearance, with black spiky hair - he is thought to be in his mid twenties.

Officers are urging women to walk home in groups or take a taxi or public transport.
