Publishing factory winding down operations

The majority of staff at a Plymouth publishing firm will leave today.

The Wyndeham factory, based at Langage, is closing down.

Wyndeham Group announced in May that it would be entering a 90-day consultation over the possible closure of Plymouth's factory.

It came just a month after the facility was bought by parent company Walstead Investments.

The firm, which produces glossy magazines, made a loss of almost 3 million pounds in the financial year ending July 2010.

Bosses have said Wyndeham Plymouth has been making losses for many years and that they are unable to come up with a plan to make the business viable.

Two thirds of the factory's staff will leave the company today - with the rest staying until the end of the year.
