The search for the missing crew member of a tug boat which sank on its way to Plymouth has been called off.

The Aquarius got into difficulties in the English channel early yesterday morning.

She was sailing from Northern Spain to Plymouth.

Two of the crew members, understood to be from Plymouth, were rescued by the French coastguard and taken to hospital in Brest.

A third disappeared - crews searched for him for much of yesterday, but have now decided to call off the search.

French authorities are now conducting an investigation.
