Shaugh Prior parish council is in trouble over failing to return its accounts for the last financial year.

The council on the edge of the city hs been criticised by the District Auditor.

The tiny authority has been mentioned in the public interest report and the auditor said the people of Shaugh Prior have the right to know how their local taxes have been used.

Despite repeated requests, the council has failed to submit its annual return. The books need to be completed to give assurances that it has a robust system of internal control to protect public funds.
