Sherford development could get underway in 2012

Developers say their plans to build a new town on the outskirts of Plymouth will still go ahead, providing Plymouth city and South Hams district council give them the green light.

Red Tree say the funding is already in place and work will start on Sherford in 2012 if a planning agreement is reached.

The development would include 5500 houses, as well as schools, shops, and other facilities like a sports centre and swimming pool.

It's also claimed it will create around 400 jobs for local people, who will be kept in work for the next fifteen years.
