Smart ticketing to be launched across South West

A new smart ticketing scheme could be in place across the south west by the end of next year.

It means that people will be able to top up their cards and use them on any bus in the region.

It was revealed this week that just under three million pounds had been awarded by the department of transport to help install the scheme - a further four million will be used to restore the laira rail bridge and improve walking and cycling links.

It's hoped it will encourage more people to use public transport.
