Support group for victims of domestic abuse may fold without more funding

A Plymouth group working with victims of domestic violence desperately needs more funding if it is to keep going.

SEEDS employs survivors of domestic violence to talk to others about their experiences and to work with the police to help victims.

They launched in 2009 with help from the Plymouth Domestic Abuse Partnership and now need around £8500 a year to keep going.

They have recently received a £5000 grant from the local probation service to launch a support group for children affected by domestic violence.

Co ordinator Kerry Whincup says that can't be used for their core work.

The group are running a campaign asking for people to donate old mobile phones - they can be dropped off at the university's student union and there will be a raffle to raise money at the Guildhall on March 8th as part of International Women's Day.
