Tombstoners targeted under new police powers

Police in Plymouth are once again to be given new powers to tackle anti social behaviour related to tombstoning over the next few months.

From April 9th, officers will be able to move young people causing trouble away from areas including Devils point, Sutton Harbour and the Hoe for up to twenty four hours.

While tombstoning itself is not illegal, officers say it is often accompanied by trespassing on private property and being abusive to passers by.

One tombstoner has already had to be rescued from the waters off Plymouth after getting into trouble this year .
