Veronica Capaldi
I seem to have spent my whole life involved with entertainment in one form or another. I joined my first band at the tender age of 13, went through various forms of music styles vocally during the next few decades, including working with many top acts and touring across the country. At the same time I opened a successful music shop with my husband Pete and then, out of the blue, in 1992 I was approached to host shows on a brand new radio station.
I agreed to try out the radio work for 3 months, as I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. How wrong could I be? I LOVE it! And almost two decades later, I still love it!
There is something so satisfying about good local radio; I love the interaction between listener and presenter, the localness with news, problems on the roads and changing weather conditions. It's amazing the way local appeals bring out the best in everybody. An of course there is the music. We all have songs which mean a lot to us and I hope to find out the songs which are special to you on our Sunday Request show between 12 and 4pm.
I love living in the South West, which has been my adopted home for almost a decade now. The Capaldis moved en masse and our daughter & family live just down the road from the radio station, so I guess from now on, as long as the kettle is on, the biscuits will be on me!
